[Motive] God’s Compassion & Mercy.
[Committment] = Transformation. To God’s Service. By God’s power in Us.
We are those who are at peace with God though our Lord Jesus Christ. We stand before him in Grace and rejoice in our hope of the Glory of God.The Spirit of God himself dwells within us. And we are called Sons of God, if indeed we are led by the Spirit.
The Spirit of God himself dwells within us. And we are called Sons of God, if indeed we are led by the Spirit.
One Part of being led by the Spirit is in recognizing our new selves as much greater than we were before. We are a member of the body of Christ. That is an incredible picture. When we talk about Christian Apologetics one topic that often comes up is the amazing intricate systems and purposes in the human body. We are intricately woven together in the womb. We have eyes to see, ears to hear. We can walk, talk, and chew gum. Etc. God cares for the number of hairs on our head.
And if so, how much more care must he have for the body of Christ. Paul tells us of our purpose; the Gift of God; the Grace of God for us in giving to us a purpose in the body.
One caveat.
Love. [no matter what you do] It is WHO YOU ARE.
Romans 12:9
Romans 12:9 ESV
Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.
[context] = Christian Duty & Disciplince
The point is Authenticity. Truth. Reailty. Manifestation of the Body.
1 Corinthians 13:1 ESV
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
1 Corinthians 13:1–3 ESV
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
1 Corinthians 1:13
Romans 12:21 ESV
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Consider these words of Jesus:
Matthew 5:13 ESV
“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.
Romans 12
2 Corinthians 6:6 ESV
by purity, knowledge, patience, kindness, the Holy Spirit, genuine love;
Mark 9:50 ESV
Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, how will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”
Luke 14:34 ESV
“Salt is good, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored?
Luke 14:34–35 ESV
“Salt is good, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is of no use either for the soil or for the manure pile. It is thrown away. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
Luke 14:34
[let him hear]… a mystery of the Gospel. A message for those with spiritual ears.
Salt without Saltiness is as absurd [and as useless to its purpose] as a Christian without Love.
Be the Change. What is your influence upon those with whom you interact?
Emphasis on BEING rather then DOING.
Romans 12:10 ESV
Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.
Romans 12:11 ESV
Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.
Romans 12:10
Romans 12:12 ESV
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
Romans 12:13 ESV
Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.
Roma
Romans 12:14 ESV
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.
Romans 12:15 ESV
Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.
Romans 12:16 ESV
Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight.
Romasn 12:16
Romans 12:17 ESV
Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all.
Romans 12:18 ESV
If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
Romans 12:19 ESV
Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”
Romans 12:20 ESV
To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.”
Romasn 12:18
Romans 12:21 ESV
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Romasn 12:21
“in Good”
Psalm 31:19 ESV
19 Oh, how abundant is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you and worked for those who take refuge in you, in the sight of the children of mankind!
Psalm 31:18–19 ESV
18 Let the lying lips be mute, which speak insolently against the righteous in pride and contempt. 19 Oh, how abundant is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you and worked for those who take refuge in you, in the sight of the children of mankind!
Not By: [Self] but By: [Abiding in Him.]
Psalm
- by the mercies of God.
- transformed, by the renewing of [my/your] mind.
[turn your eyes upon jesus]
Hebrews 12:2 ESV
looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
